watching the live killer whale show at Sea World, San Diego is really quite spectacular and
unforgettable. Unfortunately hiding the incarceration and torment of these beautiful fish.
little did I know that just weeks prior to watching this show (in August 2010), that one of
the trainers had been killed by the big male killer whale, "Shamu", seen in this picture.

as a result the trainers weren't allowed into the water, as a court order prevented them.
this wasn't the first or last incident with these magnificent fish...
recently a documentary called "Blackfish" was released highlighting the cruelty
and torment towards these fish that brought about the many accidents, deaths and injuries
that the trainers experienced.
a campaign is now underway to release the killer whales from Sea World,
in Florida, California and Texas.

it's not only killer whales that have been cruelty mistreated over many decades...
sea lions, bottle nosed dolphins and pilot whales are also part of the show...
relatively speaking, the killer whales have been trapped in 'bath tub' sized enclosures
(relative to their size) for over 20 years now

the corporate dollar to this day is still more important that the welfare of these creatures
even though marine life experts have publicly voiced their anger and opposition...
